While arguing climate alarmism on a different site, I was taking the absurd position that Global Warmists often do. Any change in the weather whatsoever is do to warming, even ice ages! As I was explaining sarcastophically that hot = cold, Lenin=MacArthur, King George=George Washington and Food=Poop; she attacked me as an actual climate alarmist! You see, their arguments are so out of whack these days, that my (I thought) blatant incongruences where mistaken for their argumentation!
No help to the matter is that they make crap up as they go along too. This article from the Telegraph talks about this last October being reported as one of the hottest ever, while anecdotal evidence from everywhere told the opposite story. Enough alarm bells went off that the data was researched and found to be [gasp!] fabricated. Yes, in the great words of H.A.L. in 2000 a space odyssey "it can only be attributable to human error." This site, http://wattsupwiththat.com/ and this site, http://www.climateaudit.org/ did the grueling work to vet the data. Luckily, they did a better job than NBC did vetting the Palin/Africa lies! Poor NBC. But I digest...
You see, the "readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal." What caused it [And no, don't think that there was an agenda and a conspiracy and start wearing your tinfoil hats...yet] was "Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running."
That's right! There were erroneous temperature readings put into their version of "HAL" (a PERFECTLY perfect weather prediction machine, no problems here, move along please) for two months running, and that data conveniently leaned in the "Global Warming Catastrophe Apocolypse Armaggedon Run for your Flaming Lives Theory" direction!
How? Well, "A GISS spokesman lamely explained that the reason for the error in the Russian figures was that they were obtained from another body, and that GISS did not have resources to exercise proper quality control over the data it was supplied with." In other words, kindly pay no attention to that man behind the curtain! I am the Great and Powerful Global Climate Alarmism!
So, the same group of eggheads (who have NO IDEA if it will rain Friday) are telling me (with authoritative certainty) that they know exactly what temperature earth was hundreds, even thousands of years ago when they can't get 2 months worth of temperatures straight? AND they're telling me what temperature it will be 20 years from now?!?!?
Understand this, this is phenomenal! We are supposed to stop economic growth and reduce our power and productivity and stop bathing and reproducing (mutually inclusive, if you ask me) to stop a possible global warming threat dreamed up by asshats who can't get a CURRENT temperature right? How in the aching anus of Astrodmaus are we supposed to trust them with PAST or FUTURE temperatures?
Now you are beginning to see my reluctance to jump onto science that is "settled" telling me how bad it is to... well, to just BE ME! These things are probably funded by crackhead new-ager one-worlders who get the results they desire anyway, so why freak out?
I was told 30 years ago that we only had 20 more years of clean air, clean water and oil in the earth. 20 years! Now, we are being told that we only have 20 years of temperature left until we bake and the seas rise. Fool me once, shame on you...
Please free yourself from these lunatics and their fetish for controlling your lives. Salt is bad. Now it's good. Eat margarine. Margarine gives you cancer. Don't ever drink alcohol. Wine every night is beneficial. The list goes on.
So, with science ever in conflict with itself, perhaps my original absurdities were not so absurd! After all, hot = cold if you power an icebox with it; Lenin=MacArthur if you believe in opposites, King George=George Washington in that they both ruled a western civilization at the same time and Food=Poop if you just wait long enough? There is just no getting through to the over-educated mind!
